SEASON BY SEASON
2020-21: Powell led the Blue Jays in many categories in this shortened season, averaging a career-high 17 points on over 53% from the floor, both which led the team. He and captain Jake Sullivan tied for the most rebounds per game at nearly eight each. Saint Joseph went 2-2 on the season.

2019-20: Powell became the highly sought-after post presence that the Blue Jays needed in their sophomore season. The former Windsor Warrior finished with eight double-doubles, including three in a row (both program records). He also set the record for most made field goals without a miss in one game (10). Powell finished fourth in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting it at a steady 69% from the floor (which also led the conference). He was also second in the league in blocks, swatting nearly two shots per game, to go along with his 15 points and team-high seven rebounds per game. The team reached new heights in 2019-20, winning 25 straight games, ranking 14th in the country, and winning the 2019-20 GNAC Championship over in-state rival Albertus Magnus, 88-84. The Blue Jays also played in their first-ever NCAA Tournament game, a 78-74 loss to Hobart.

Before USJ: Powell made one-year stops at Hill College and Catawba Valley Community College before becoming a Blue Jay. Originally a Middletown, Conn. native, Powell spent his high school days at Windsor High School under head coach Ken Smith. The Warriors won the 2014 CIAC Class L State Championship his sophomore year, knocking off the two seed, Career Magnet, 63-59 in the title game. After a disappointing 10-10 season as a junior in 2015, Powell and the Warriors turned things around in 2016, going undefeated and earning the top overall seed in the Class L State Tournament. Windsor cruised to the semis, but were upset in overtime by East Catholic, 60-57. Powell was an all-state selection and two-time defensive player of the year.
