Carlstrom, Shaw Named to ABCA Region I All-Defensive Team

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Senior first baseman Ryan Shaw (Ellington, Conn.) and junior second baseman Tyler Carlstrom (Rocky Hill, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Region I All-Defensive Team, the organization announced on Thursday. The honors mark the first time in their careers that Shaw and Carlstrom have earned the accolade and the second consecutive season that the Blue Jays have had student-athletes selected to the ABCA Region I All-Defensive Team.

Shaw was a consistent presence at first base for the Blue Jays in 2026, appearing in 37 games. The senior finished the season with a .985 fielding percentage while recording a team-high 248 putouts and 14 assists. His putout total tied for third in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Carlstrom anchored the middle infield for USJ in 2026, primarily playing second base while appearing in 33 games. The junior posted a career-best .984 fielding percentage while totaling 54 putouts and 69 assists, the second-highest assist total on the team.
