HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Blue Jays' offense got rolling early and never looked back, erupting for four runs in the opening inning. The rally was highlighted by a two‑run double from senior infielder Ryan Shaw (Ellington, Conn.), a sacrifice fly from junior infielder Tyler Carlstrom (Rocky Hill, Conn.), and an RBI single from senior catcher Chase Belisle (Wolcott, Conn.) to give USJ a 4–0 lead.
  • Vassar answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double from Jensen Bergman to trim the deficit to 4–1.
  • USJ continued to build its advantage in the second inning, plating five runs to take a commanding 9–1 lead. The frame featured an RBI double from senior outfielder Ryan Quinn (Middletown, Conn.) and a two‑run single from senior infielder JJ Fox (Killingworth, Conn.).
  • The Brewers pushed across two runs in the bottom of the second to make it 9–3, but the Blue Jays remained firmly in control.
  • USJ's offense stayed hot in the middle innings, adding nine runs across the fifth and sixth innings to extend the lead to 18–3.
  • Vassar scored two runs in the seventh, but it was not nearly enough as the Blue Jays cruised to an 18–5 victory.

 INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Fox led the offensive outburst with three hits, two runs scored, and a team‑high five RBI.
  • Fox, Quinn, sophomore infielder Jack Kane (West Hartford, Conn.), and freshman infielder Sam Balducci (South Windsor, Conn.) each recorded multi‑hit performances.
  • Freshman pitcher Carsten Donovan (Cheshire, Conn.) earned the win in his start, improving to 1–2 after allowing two earned runs and striking out three over 4.0 innings.
