WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team dropped a non‑conference matchup to Clark University, 13–3, on Wednesday afternoon at Granger Field. With the result, the Blue Jays slipped to 13–8 on the season, while the Cougars improved to 14–5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Clark broke through first in the bottom of the third inning, taking a 1–0 lead on a sacrifice fly from Cole Camara.
  • The Cougars added to their advantage in the fourth, plating four runs to extend the lead to 5–0.
  • USJ answered in the fifth as senior infielder JJ Fox (Killingworth, Conn.) lined an RBI single to left field to get the Blue Jays on the board. Later in the frame, sophomore infielder Jack Kane (West Hartford, Conn.) followed with an RBI single to right field, trimming the deficit to 5–2.
  • Clark responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs to push the lead to 8–2.
  • Junior infielder Tyler Carlstrom (Rocky Hill, Conn.) stayed hot at the plate, delivering an RBI single through the right side to make it 8–3 in the top of the sixth.
  • The Cougars put the game out of reach in the bottom of the inning, erupting for five runs to seal the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Sophomore pitcher Brady Higginbotham (Enfield, Conn.) made his first start of the season, tossing 3.0 innings while allowing two hits and one run and striking out one.
  • Fox paced the Blue Jays offensively with two hits and an RBI.
  • Senior outfielder Ryan Quinn (Middletown, Conn.) displayed strong plate discipline, drawing two walks.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays return to conference play on Friday, April 3, traveling to Dean College for a GNAC doubleheader. First pitch against the Bulldogs at Longley Athletic Complex in Franklin, Mass., is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., with game two to follow at approximately 4:00 p.m.
