Baseball Blanks Trinity at Home on Sunday Morning, 4–0

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team earned its ninth victory of the season on Sunday morning, blanking Trinity College, 4–0, in a non‑conference matchup at the USJ Baseball Field. With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 9–5 on the year, while the Bantams slipped to 8–3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when senior catcher Chase Belisle (Wolcott, Conn.) beat out an infield single to drive in senior infielder JJ Fox (Killingworth, Conn.), giving the Blue Jays a 1–0 lead.
  • USJ extended its advantage in the sixth inning as junior infielder Brian Ingraham (Waterford, Conn.) delivered an RBI single to left field, scoring Belisle to make it 2–0.
  • Later in the inning, sophomore infielder Jack Kane (West Hartford, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice, allowing junior infielder Tyler Carlstrom (Rocky Hill, Conn.) to cross the plate and push the lead to 3–0.
  • The Blue Jays tacked on an insurance run in the eighth when freshman infielder Sam Balducci (South Windsor, Conn.) recorded an RBI infield single to seal the 4–0 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Sophomore pitcher Aaron LaRose (Williston, Vt.) continued his dominant stretch on the mound, improving to 3–0 while lowering his ERA to 2.25. The right‑hander tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three.
  • Carlstrom paced the offense with two hits and two runs scored.
  • Sophomore Marcus Tarfano (Southington, Conn.) earned the save, firing three hitless innings in relief and striking out three.

UP NEXT 

The Blue Jays return to action on Tuesday, March 24, hosting Keene State College for a non‑conference matchup. First pitch between USJ and the Owls is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the USJ Baseball Field.
