Kane Collects GNAC Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week Awards
WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman infielder Jack Kane (West Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team was named both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon in its seventh weekly report of the 2025 season. This marks Kane's fourth and fifth career weekly conference honors, the second time this season he has earned both Player and Rookie of the Week in the same week, and the fourth and fifth weekly awards for the USJ baseball team this year.
Kane played a key role in helping USJ post a 4-0 record this past week, including a 2-0 mark in GNAC play, as the Blue Jays have now won six straight and eight of their last 10 games. Over the four-game stretch this week, Kane slashed .409/.435/.727 and totaled 16 bases, going 9-for-22 with a double, two home runs, seven RBIs, and five runs scored.
He recorded multi-hit games in all four contests, beginning with a 2-for-6 performance that included an RBI and two runs scored in a 13-4 GNAC victory over Anna Maria on Tuesday. He followed that with a 2-for-5 effort, adding two RBIs and two runs scored, including his first home run of the season—a go-ahead two-run blast in the top of the 10th inning—to lift USJ to a 12-9 extra-inning win at Rhode Island College on Wednesday.
Kane then went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs in a 5-0 non-conference win over intrastate rival WestConn at home on Thursday. He capped off his week with a 3-for-6 performance, driving in two runs and scoring once. He launched his second go-ahead two-run home run in three days in the top of the 12th inning to propel the Blue Jays to a 4-2 extra-inning GNAC victory at Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday.
Through 24 games this season, Kane currently leads both the team and the entire GNAC with a .481 batting average, recording 50 hits in 104 at-bats. He also tops the team with a .505 on-base percentage, a .654 slugging percentage, and a team-best 24 RBIs.
