Kane Tabbed GNAC Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman infielder Jack Kane (West Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office Monday afternoon in its fourth weekly report of the 2025 season. It marked the second and third career weekly conference honors for Kane, and the second and third weekly awards for the Blue Jays this season, as Kane was also tabbed the GNAC Rookie of the Week following the second week of the season on March 3.
Kane had a stellar week at the plate, helping power USJ to a 3-3 record, as the Blue Jays competed in six of their eight contests down in Florida over the past seven calendar days at the RussMatt Invitational during spring break. The freshman from West Hartford logged multi-hit games in all six contests, racking up 16 knocks over the course of 26 at-bats for a .615 batting average. Kane drew one walk and one hit-by-pitch, and two of his 16 hits went for extra bases, to boast a .621 on-base percentage and .731 slugging percentage for the week. He also drove in eight RBI and scored three runs.
Kane opened the week with a perfect 4-for-4 outing and drove in three RBI in a 9-5 win against Vassar on Monday (3/10). He followed that up by going 3-for-5 with two RBI on Tuesday (3/11) against Russell Sage. After a day off on Wednesday (3/12), the rookie came back and went 2-for-5 with two RBI in an 8-4 win over SUNY Cobleskill on Thursday (3/13), before combining for a 4-for-7 day at the dish during a split doubleheader against Washington & Jefferson and Calvin on Friday (3/14). He rounded out the week - and spring break trip - with a 3-for-5 showing and drove in an RBI in a 14-9 triumph against Hamilton on Saturday (3/15).
Through 12 games so far this season, Kane currently has the highest batting average on the team at .551 with 27 hits in 49 official at-bats. He also leads the team with a .566 on-base percentage, .714 slugging percentage, and has driven in a team-best 13 RBI.
