Soccer Team 10th in New England
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The University of Saint Joseph soccer team received its highest-ever ranking Wednesday, finishing tied for 10th in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America New England Division III poll.
USJ has been ranked four the past four weeks, cracking the list three weeks ago at No. 15, before ascending to 14th and 13th over the next two weeks.
Wheaton (13-0-2) and Amherst (9-1-1) were tied for the top spot with Middlebury (9-1-1), Williams (9-2-1) and Brandeis (10-3-1) rounding out the top five.
Saint Joseph is 11-1-1 overall and leads the Great Northeast Athletic Conference at 9-0-1. The Blue Jays, who play at Emerson tonight at 7:30 p.m., can clinch their first-ever regular-season title with a win in either of their last two conference games or a loss or tie by second-place Lasell in either of their last two GNAC games.
Saint Joseph plays its final regular-season home game, Tue. Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m. against Coast Guard. The game is being taped by CPTV Sports and will have its initial airing Thur. Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
