Pennell, Yorke Named January HHC Athletes of the Month

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Department of Athletics has announced the Hartford HealthCare Athletes of the Month for January, the fifth full month of the 2025-26 season. These student-athletes excelled during a highly competitive slate of contests, standing out with their individual performances. The award is presented to one male and one female student-athlete across all sports at the conclusion of each calendar month on behalf of USJ Athletics and Hartford HealthCare.

Henry Pennell (Men's Swimming & Diving) - Pennell, a freshman from Bellows Falls, Vt. continued his impressive 2025-26 rookie campaign with strong performances across two meets for the Blue Jays in January. Throughout the month, Pennell collected two GNAC Men's Diver of the Week Awards, marking the third and fourth time he has earned the honor this year. He opened the month by winning the 1-meter diving event during a dual meet at Clark, posting a total score of 179.85 points. Pennell followed that performance up by breaking the school 1-meter diving record in a dual meet against ECSU, collecting an impressive score of 190.30 points. The honor marks the first Hartford HealthCare Athlete of the Month award in his career.

Nevaeh Yorke (Women's Basketball) - Yorke, a sophomore guard from Norwich, Conn., guided the Blue Jays to a 6-5 record in January, averaging 10.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per contest. She opened the month with a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double in a home win against Wellesley (1/3). She followed that up with a career night in a win over Lasell (1/14), posting career highs of 22 points and 20 rebounds. Yorke continued her strong January by scoring 10 points and pulling down eight rebounds in a road victory at Dean (1/28). She capped the month with a 17-point, eight-rebound and eight-assist outing at Rivier (1/31). The honor marks Yorke's second straight selection and second career Hartford HealthCare Athlete of the Month award.
