Kane, Antonowicz Named March HHC Athletes of the Month
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Department of Athletics would like to recognize the Hartford HealthCare Athletes of the Month for the seventh full month of the season, the month of March. These student-athletes went above and beyond during a highly competitive sports slate while standing out above the rest in the respective month. The award is presented to one male and one female student-athlete across all school sports at the end of each calendar month, and is done so on behalf of USJ Athletics and Hartford HealthCare. Jack Kane (Baseball) – The freshman infielder has enjoyed a stellar start to his collegiate career, slashing .486/.512/.581 with 36 hits, three doubles, two triples, 14 RBI, four walks and three stolen bases to pace the Blue Jays to a 10-8 mark in March. The West Hartford, Conn., native was recognized twice by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for his stellar play throughout the month, earning GNAC Rookie of the Week on March 3, before being named both the GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week on March 17. The honor marks the first time that he has been named a Hartford HealthCare Athlete of the Month of his career.
Jennifer Antonowicz (Softball) – Antonowicz, a sophomore infielder from Wolcott, Conn., has led the Blue Jays to a 7-10 mark to start the season, posting a team-best batting line of .500/.534/.673, while adding 26 hits, three doubles, three triples, 11 RBI, five walks and 11 stolen basses. After the teams spring break trip to Florida, she was named the GNAC Player of the Week on March 17 after slashing an incredible .696/.667/.826 while tallying 16 hits, six runs, one double, one triple, five RBI, and six stolen bases across six games. The honor marks the first Hartford HealthCare Athlete of the Month award in her career.
