Blue Jay Tuesday - McKenna Driscoll, Softball

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Department of Athletics is starting a fun new initiative called Blue Jay Tuesday, which will feature a different USJ student-athlete answering a series of 10 questions every Tuesday to help fans better get to know the Blue Jays. Last week, we featured Charlotte Eberhardt in the first release, a senior on the women's lacrosse team. Debuting in the second installment of Blue Jay Tuesday is senior catcher McKenna Driscoll (Bristol, Conn.) from the USJ softball team.

10 Things To Know About McKenna

1) What is your favorite food? - Pizza

2) Who would you pick from the softball team to be stranded on an island with? - Megan Burke because at least I would die laughing. She's hilarious!

3) Where is your favorite place on campus? - Definitely the lobby of McDonough Hall in the little alcove booths (ask anybody, I'm always there).

4) What would you sing at Karaoke night? - Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.

5) What are you currently watching on Netflix? - I'm currently re-watching Grey's Anatomy and The Office.

6) What is the best part of being a member of the USJ softball team? - My teammates! They are by far the best part of being a member of the USJ softball team. I love each and every one of the players on the team. They truly feel like family to me, so it's like I have 24 sisters. We also have the best coaching and training staff. AT's Megan and Matt, and strength and conditioning coach Mike Jones, are the best around! They really all care so much about us and do their best to make us better every single day. Having a dedicated and caring group of coaches and staff really makes all the difference!

7) What is your favorite movie? - The Benchwarmers

8) Why did you choose USJ? - I chose USJ because of their very well-known Education and Biology programs as well as for the softball team. I was recruited by Coach McKinnon after being introduced to him at a college softball recruiting seminar hosted by my travel softball team my junior year of high school. After talking with Coach and touring the school, I fell in love with USJ and it became my number one choice!

9) What is your biggest fear? - Spiders

10) What are your plans after USJ? - After graduating this spring, I plan on returning to USJ in the fall to start my graduate coursework in the school of Education. I plan on completing my student teaching requirement in the fall semester and then taking three masters courses in the spring! After next spring, I plan on applying for jobs at local Connecticut high schools as a biology/anatomy and physiology teacher.
