Volleyball Drops Two

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph volleyball team was swept Saturday in both ends of a non-conference tri-meet at Framingham State.

The Blue Jays came up on the short end of the score against Southern Maine (25-17, 25-21, 25-14) and Framingham State (25-11, 25-15, 25-21).

USJ junior Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) had nine kills and eight digs in the opener against Southern Maine. Sophomore Emily Vigue (Lebanon, Conn.) and freshman Cassandra Grimaldi (Manchester, Conn.) had five kills apiece for the Blue Jays. Junior Megan Williams (Lakeville, Conn.) had a match-high 18 assists and junior Elizabeth Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) contributed 13 digs.

Framingham State had 45 kills against only seven hitting errors in the finals. Perez again led USJ with eight kills while Williams added 16 assists.

USJ plays at Elms Tue. Sept. 17 in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. The Blue Jays next home match is Thur. Sept. 19 against Daniel Webster at 7 p.m.
