Tennis Loses Close One at Anna Maria, 6-3
PAXTON, Mass. the University of Saint Joseph tennis team came up on the short end of a 6-3 GNAC match Saturday at Anna Maria College.
The Blue Jays were swept in the doubles competition, but came on to win three singles matches. Amanda Willhoft (Manchester, Conn.), Lindsay Tracy (Manchester, Conn.) and Angela Zaffetti (Suffield, Conn.) all scored singles wins for USJ.
Tracy won a third-set tie-breaker 10-8 to earn a dramatic victory. Overall, the match was close with Anna Maria winning two other tiebreakers that helped the Amcats to clinch the match.
Saint Joseph is at Suffolk, Wed. Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. and next plays home, Sat. Sat. Oct. 6, hosting Mount Ida at noon.
