DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Three members of the University of Saint Joseph cross country team contested in the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational held on UMass Dartmouth's campus Saturday morning, while a pair recorded 5K personal best times. The race featured 299 total runners.
Junior Mia Tompkins (Meriden, Conn.) continued her strong start to the 2017 season and led the way for the Blue Jays at the meet. She posted a 65th place overall finish crossing the finish line first for USJ with a personal best time of 19:53 on a 6:24 mile pace.
Seniors Jessica Jordan (Wallingford, Conn.) and Paulina Koloda (Jaroslaw, Poland) both also competed for the Blue Jays and Koloda logged a career best mark. Jordan recorded a 263rd place finish with a time of 27:14, while Koloda posted a 273rd place result with a collegiate best time of 28:49.
Assumption topped the field to claim the victory as a team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational with a total of 56 points. Trinity finished second with 87 points followed by Brandeis (99), Holy Cross (153) and New Paltz (251) to round out the top-five.
The USJ cross country team will be back in action next in a week when they head to the Blazer Classic Invitational hosted by Elms College on Saturday. The meet is scheduled to get under way at 11 a.m.
