In High School: Member of cross-country and outdoor track teams for four years each, indoor track and bowling for three years each . . . Qualified for state outdoor meet on the 4-by-800 relay team and also ran the steeplechase; qualified for state divisional meet all four years in cross-country . . . three-sport captain . . . National Honor Society, Rho Kappa (Social studies honor society), honors with distinction (94 or better average) every marking period for four years, Citizenship Award, National Youth Service Day Award.
