Blue Jays Host USJ Invitational
WEST HARTFORD -- The University of Saint Joseph Saturday hosted the 5th Annual Blue Jay Invitational, run at an on-campus course, Saturday.
Framingham State junior Elena Cox (Rowley, Mass.) was the individual winner, covering the 3.1 mile course in 21:17. Sweeping the top three spots, Framingham State won the team competition with 25 points. MCLA was second at 32, followed by Saint Joseph with 85 and fourth-place Albertus, which did not field a full team and had no score.
USJ sophomore Amie Ouellette (Plymouth, Conn.) was the top Blue Jay, finishing 18th in 27:40. Ashley Figueroa (New Britain, Conn.), Bridget Saur (South Windsor, Conn.), Serena Cochran (Ledyard, Conn.) and Angela Shabazian (South Windsor, Conn.) also earned points for USJ.
Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) of Albertus Magnus, finished ninth.
Saint Joseph runs at Westfield State, Sat. Oct. 6 at noon.
