Cross Country Makes 2011 Debut

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Julie Pattyson (Seymour, Conn.) was 39th of 181 runners and the top Blue Jay finisher as the cross-country team began its 2011 campaign at the Smith College Invitational. 

Pattyson finished the 5K course in 22 minutes, 5.87 seconds. Mary Roto (Eastford, Conn.), Ashley Kulas (Windsor Locks, Conn.), Kristin Burke (Randolph, Mass.) and Sara Lore (Norwood, Mass.) earned scoring places for Saint Joseph.

Saint Joseph finished 12th of 16 in the team competition. Wellesley won the team title with 29 points, edging second-place Coast Guard, which had 34. Coast Guard freshman Beth Gollin was the individual winner in 19:43.94.

Saint Joseph returns to action Sat. Sept. 24, when it runs at Elms College in an 11 a.m. meet.
