WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The University of Saint Joseph volleyball team dropped both ends of a GNAC-tri match hosted by the Blue Jays Saturday at the O'Connell Center.
USJ lost to both Rivier (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) and Lasell (25-19, 25-21, 25-14) in three sets each.
Against Rivier, USJ sophomore Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) had a match-high eight kills. Emily Vigue served five aces for the Blue Jays, who played tough against a team that finished the day 13-5 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Megan Williams had 19 assists for USJ.
Against Lasell, Perez had team-highs of nine kills and 16 digs. Elizabeth Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) and Vigue each made strong defensive contributions with 14 and 11 digs, respectively. Williams had 17 assists and 10 digs. Lasell, which also dropped a 3-0 match to Rivier, finished the day 5-16 overall, but 5-3 in the GNAC.
Saint Joseph is now 5-14 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Blue Jays play at Albertus Magnus, Mon. Oct. 8 beginning at 11 a.m. in another GNAC tri-match, which also includes Suffolk.
