WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll is out, and the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team was picked fourth heading into this weekend's championship meet, it was announced on Thursday morning by the GNAC. The USJ men's team, who will be making its first-ever appearance at the GNAC Championships, was selected to finish seventh.
The women's team received 35 poll points to sit just outside the podium in the annual coaches' poll, behind Colby-Sawyer (44), Regis (56), and unanimous favorite Simmons (64), who is looking to claim its unprecedented 15th straight GNAC title this weekend. Simmons will once again host the championships inside the Holmes Sports Center Natatorium in what will be the final year at the Fenway-area facility. The 2020 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at a neutral site.
USJ finished 5-2 in dual meets this season and competed in several big-time events, including the Blue Jay Pentathlon Invitational, the Louise Goodrum Invitational, and the Connecticut Cup.
The men's swimming and diving team will compete in the GNAC Championships for the first time this season. They received 11 points in the men's poll.
