WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Five members of the University of Saint Joseph women's swimming & diving team were named to the 2017-18 All-New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Academic Team, it was announced via a release by the NEISDA on Tuesday afternoon. 122 student-athletes from 21 women's teams and 12 men's teams across the region were represented on this year's NEISDA All-Academic Team.
In order for a swimmer or diver to make the All-NEISDA Academic Team the student-athlete needed to post a fall semester GPA of 3.50 or better. Junior Richelle DiFronzo (Naugatuck, Conn.), senior Veronika Latawiec (Newington, Conn.), junior Annmarie Masayda (Watertown, Conn.), junior Elizabeth Sears (Bristol, Conn.) and freshman Amanda Thiel (Torrington, Conn.) earned the honor for the Blue Jays. Collectively, USJ boasted a team GPA of 3.25 for the fall semester led by Latawiec who posted a perfect 4.0.
