PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The University of Saint Joseph had a number of outstanding showings despite a 152-123 loss in a dual meet Saturday at Plymouth State.
Junior Luz Holmes (East Hartford, Conn.) won the 3-meter diving and 1-meter diving and broke her own school record off the 3-meter board with a 170.85 score. Freshman Annmarie Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) was also a double-winner, taking first in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.27 seconds) and the 100 breast (1:16.95).
Freshman Veronika Latawiec (Newington, Conn.) was the other Blue Jay to win an event, taking first in the 100 backstroke (1:09.86). In addition, Latawiec was second in the 200 free and 500 free. Junior Rachel Mauthe (East Lyme, Conn.) and freshman Gabriella Alberino (East Haven, Conn.) eaned quality points for USJ with a pair of second-place finishes.
For the day, Masayda earned a team-best 22 points towards the team competition, Holmes 19 and Latawiec 18.
USJ is at Eastern Conn., Monday Jan. 18 for a 6 p.m. dual meet.
