NEWTON, Mass. -- Erika Leitao (Southington, Conn.) had a goal in each half and her record 11th assist of the season, but the Blue Jays dropped a 26-3 contest to league-leading Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game Saturday at Lasell.
Lasell improved to 12-3 overall and finished its conference schedule at 9-0 as the Lasers were regular-season GNAC champs. USJ is 3-9 overall and finished 1-8 in the GNAC.
Leitao scored the first USJ goal 3:40 into the game to erase a 1-0 deficit then assisted Haley Tufano (Farmington, Conn.) to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 edge, seven minutes in. It was the 11th assist of the year for Leitao, which set a single-season school record.
The Blue Jays, however, would not score until Leitao's second goal, with 16:11 remaining in the game. Lasell led 14-2 at halftime and outshot USJ for the game, 35-21.
