Bio
Jack Casey is in his second season as the USJ head women’s basketball coach.
He spent one season at USJ as an assistant to former USJ head coach Kim Martin then guided the Blue Jays to the GNAC tournament in 2013-14.
Prior to coming to USJ, Casey was the head coach at GNAC rival Mount Ida in Newton, Mass., where he was part of the College’s coach-in-residence program, and oversaw all aspects of the women’s basketball program
During his tenure, the Mustangs qualified for the GNAC conference tournament for first time in school history in 2010-11 as the eighth seed and again as the fifth seed in 2011-12. The team’s 14 wins in 2011-12 were the most in program history. Overall, Casey’s teams were 40-57 at Mount Ida.
Before Mount Ida, Casey was the head coach of the Simsbury High School girls basketball program for eight years, where he compiled an overall record of 87-86 in the state's largest school class (LL). While at Simsbury, he coached 13 players who went on to play college basketball at the Division I through III levels. He also was the assistant boys basketball coach at Simsbury for six years before taking over the girls program. Additionally, Casey was the head softball coach at Simsbury for 16 years, compiling a record of 191-124 and twice taking teams to the state semi-finals.
He is the founder and camp director for The Next Level Girls' Basketball Training Camp, held in Simsbury since 2002. This is a unique basketball experience for girls in grades 6-12 who are coached by current and former Division I and professional players, primarily members of the University of Connecticut women's basketball program. He has also been a program director and member of coaching staffs at numerous other area basketball camps and clinics for the past 20 years.
Coach Casey received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., where he was a member of the men's basketball team for four years and served as captain his senior year (1975-76).
