Guest Honored on NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -  Senior Kayla Guest (Newington, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph women's basketball team was tabbed to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll, it was announced by the organization's front office on Monday afternoon. In her final three games as a Blue Jay, the senior forward went out with a bang averaging a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds in a 1-2 week for the USJ women's basketball team.

The Newington product shot 45.8% (27-59) from the floor, 40.0% (2-5) from three and 76.2% (16-21) from the charity stripe on the week, while also averaging 2.3 steals, 1.7 assists and a block per game. Guest opened up the week with a career-high 32 points, which included going a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line, and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 70-57 setback on the road at Simmons Tuesday where the Sharks pulled away late. She followed that up with a game-high 24 points and pulled down a season-high and game-best 14 caroms to lead USJ to a 59-52 win over Elms on the road Thursday where the Blue Jays trailed by a point entering the final quarter, but Guest fueled a fourth-quarter surge with seven of her 24 points coming in the final 10 minutes. The veteran then concluded the week and her career with a 16-point, nine-rebound effort in a setback on Saturday at Suffolk.

Guest concludes the 2017-18 season leading the Blue Jays in points (16.6), rebounds (7.8), steals (2.4), and blocks (0.6) per game, while also leading the team in shooting percentage (40.7%) for the year.
