NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team shot a season-high 49 percent from the field en route to a 93-50 defeat of the University of Saint Joseph in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Tuesday evening at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.
The host Falcons improved to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Blue Jays fell to 1-12 overall and 0-2 in the GNAC.
Albertus made 35 of 71 field goal attempts and USJ went 17-for-75 (22.7 percent). The Falcons led 28-11 after the first quarter and 45-22 at halftime.
USJ senior guard Stephanie DeJesus (Meriden, Conn.) led the Blue Jays with 16 points and junior guard Carlee Putnam scored 14. Rajeen Mayo (Middletown, Conn.) contributed seven points and eight rebounds and Elisha Pertillar (Windsor, Conn.) had nine rebounds.
Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) led the Falcons with a game-high 18 points and Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) had 17 points to go along with eight rebounds.
USJ returns to action, Saturday, Jan. 16, hosting Johnson & Wales at 1 p.m. in a GNAC game.
