WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and first-year head coach Andrew Fink have announced the cross country schedule for the upcoming 2019 season. Highlighting the six-meet schedule is the Blue Jay Invitational which will take place on the campus of USJ on Saturday, September 28. The women's 5K race will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 11:00 p.m.
The Blue Jays kick off the 2019 season on Saturday, September 7 down the road at the Trinity Invitational. The Trinity Invitational will once again be held at Wickham Park in Manchester. It marks the second consecutive year that the Blue Jays open the season with the Trinity Invitational.
USJ will then head to the Mitchell Invitational (Sept. 14) followed by the Blazer Classic Invitational (Sept. 21) hosted by Elms College each of the following two Saturday's. Those meets lead up to the Blue Jays' marquee event of the season on September 28, the Blue Jay Invitational.
The Blue Jays take a week off before returning to competition on October 12 at the James Earley invitational hosted by Westfield State. That will be the final meet before the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Saturday, November 2. For the second straight year, Saint Joseph's College of Maine will host the GNAC Championships on its campus in Standish, Maine. The women's race will get underway at 1:00 PM, followed by the men's race at 2:00 PM. The GNAC will also release a pre-championship poll prior to the GNAC meet.
