WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll is out, and the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team was picked fifth heading into this weekend's championship meet, as announced Thursday by conference officials.
The Blue Jays, who were picked last in the poll in their first-ever season last year, received 19 points in the championship poll this year, behind Colby-Sawyer (24), Husson (35), Regis (40), and Norwich (48). Saint Joseph finished sixth of seventh last year.
USJ finished 2-2 in dual meets this season, and competed in several big-time events, including the Roger Williams Invitational and the Connecticut Cup. They most notably defeated Eastern Connecticut State in a dual meet in dominant fashion, 143-47.
Spearheaded by Simmons Director of Athletic Communications and championship meet manager Alan Wickström, the 2020 Championships will be streamed at thegnac.tv. Saint Joseph returns to the pool for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Friday, January 31 at 6:00 p.m. The three-day meet will be held at the Boston Sports Institute (BSI) Wellesley Sports Center in Wellesley, Mass.
