WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore forward DeAnte Anderson (Bloomfield, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office on Monday afternoon. It marks the first career GNAC Player of the Week nod for Anderson after earning GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades once last season.
Anderson had a huge week for USJ exploding for an eight-point week, en route to helping lead the Blue Jays to a perfect 2-0 record highlighted by a 10-0 triumph over GNAC opponent Lasell at home on Saturday. Anderson netted three goals and assisted on two others over the two-game span, with the game-winning goal on Wednesday in a 4-1 victory at Becker.
Anderson factored in both games on the week, potting two goals to go with an assist on Wednesday versus the Hawks, before adding a goal and an assist on Saturday in the big GNAC win over Lasell.
