Ben Wallek is delighted to be teaming up with Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun in the inaugural University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men’s basketball season.

Wallek brings a wealth of basketball experience to USJ, including 12 years as an Assistant Coach for Varsity Boys’ Basketball, a student-coach for high school and collegiate basketball, and a youth basketball coach.

From 2014 to 2016, Wallek served as an Assistant Coach for New England Hall of Famer Ken Smith at Windsor High School. The Warriors won the CIAC Class LL State Tournament in 2009 and made the semi-finals in 2016.

Wallek was also a student-coach at Mitchell College in New London, Conn. from 2010-2014, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Sport & Fitness Management. In 2014, Mitchell College won its first-ever conference title and a trip to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Wallek has worked at the University of Hartford for Kim McNeill’s Girls’ Basketball Elite and Day Camps. He also coached the Hartford Wilson- Gray Elite travel team. During his coaching career, multiple players have received athletic recognition including 1,000-point scorers, CIAC All State, NECC Rookie and Player of the Year, and Team USA DIII Brazil Tour.

After receiving his Bachelor’s degree, Wallek earned his Master’s in Leadership from Albertus Magnus College.
