WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman Noreaga Davis (Bridgeport, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference front office. Davis marks the fifth different recipient from USJ to earn the GNAC Rookie of the Week honor over the first six weeks of the 2018-19 basketball season.
Davis did a little bit of everything to help the Blue Jays pickup their sixth win of the season, 65-55, over Castleton on Saturday afternoon at home in USJ's lone game of the week. The 6-4 product out of Bridgeport and Notre Dame Fairfield finished with nine points and a game-high ten boards, including seven on the offensive end, in a game which was ultimately decided down low. Davis shot 50.0% from the field in the win and also chipped in with two assists in 27 minutes of floor time.
USJ is headed south to compete in the 2018 Daytona Beach Shootout held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Blue Jays open play versus LaGrange College (Ga.) Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. before facing Rockford University (Ill.) on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
