Mike Jones enters his second season as the only strength and conditioning (s & c) coach in the history of USJ Athletics.
Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in health & fitness studies at Central Connecticut State University in neighboring New Britain, Connecticut in 1995. He also received his master’s in sports medicine from Southern Connecticut State in 1999.
Prior to his work in the USJ weight room, Jones was the s & c coach at Eastern Connecticut State from 2013 to 2017, where his efforts undoubtedly contributed to the success of student-athletes on the field. He was a personal trainer for more than two decades at the Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, working in all facets of fitness among an assortment of age levels. He even developed the s & c program at Manchester High School from the ground up, where he coached in conjunction with his work at Saint Francis.
Jones is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), and is also certified through the United States Weightlifting Federation (USWF), both since 1995.
