WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Saint Joseph freshman lacrosse player Rose St. Hilaire (West Hartford, Conn.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the period ending April 2, it was announced Monday.
St. Hilaire scored a single-game school record 11 goals in last Thursday’s 16-9 win over Southern Vermont. She scored six goals in the first half, five in the second and took 19 shots in the game, all of which were on goal. She easily broke the previous single-game goals record of eight, set by Rachel Foster last season. St. Hilaire scored her record-breaking ninth goal with 10:07 remaining in the game to put USJ up 13-7. She scored another 25 seconds later and put in No. 11 with 2:47 left.
She won the award for the second consecutive week.
For the season, St. Hilaire leads the Blue Jays (3-3) with 25 goals and is tied for fifth among all GNAC players. USJ next plays at Norwich Tuesday, April 5 in a 7 p.m. GNAC match-up.
